Progress during examinations

This past weekend, the young karateka of Fight Game Academy took center stage during the youth karate exams. Under the watchful eyes of Sensei Peter Boer and Sempei Wendy van Gils, the young athletes had the opportunity to demonstrate their progress and they did so with confidence.

In front of a full room of parents, family members and other supporters, the candidates showed what they had been working hard on over the past months. Each exam began with Kihon, the fundamental movements of punches, kicks and stances. This was followed by Kata, where technique, control and precision came together. For each grade, a different Kata was required — a challenge our karateka met with determination. Finally, the Randori section allowed them to apply their skills in controlled sparring.

The atmosphere was tense but respectful. Examiners paid close attention to technique, discipline and posture. Rightfully so, as karate is about more than just movement it’s about mindset and perseverance.

We are proud of what our youth has shown. Not just in terms of technique, but in their dedication and growth as martial artists. Congratulations to all participants on earning your new ranks. On to the next level.
