Jiu Jitsu Stage, Continuous Growth on the Mat

At Fight Game Academy, development is at the core of everything we do. Not only during regular classes, but especially beyond them. That is why our Jiu Jitsu instructor Gerrie Dusseljee participates in monthly stages, where knowledge, technique, and experience come together.

On Saturday, March 28th, another valuable session took place. Hosted at the dojo of Asahi Assen, a joint Jiu Jitsu stage was led by Dirk van den Berg and Colin Kist, a day fully focused on refinement, precision, and continuous growth as a jiujitsuka.

Dirk van den Berg opened the session with a series of versatile techniques focused on defending against initial and follow-up attacks. These techniques closely align with the requirements of a Dan examination. Through clear instruction and practical application, he demonstrated the importance of timing, control, and awareness within Jiu Jitsu.

Colin Kist then continued with techniques 6 through 10 of the Ne Waza Kata. Here, strength made way for finesse, with a strong emphasis on precision and detail. Each technique was carefully broken down, elevating the level of execution and understanding.

These stages are incredibly valuable, not only for learning new techniques, but also for refining existing skills and training with other jiujitsuka. The exchange of knowledge and experience is what drives continuous growth, both technically and mentally.

All in all, it was another highly successful stage, one that we look back on with great energy and motivation.

The next stage is already scheduled for April 25th.
