Sem started his career as a fighter with Karate, influenced by his parents. Practising full contact Ashihara Karate he earned 7 times the champion title:
2 times Daido Juku Hokutoki champion, open-weight division: 1996 / 1997, 2 times IBK (International Budo Kai) European champion full contact karate, and 3 times IBK (International Budo Kai) Dutch champion full contact karate.

Ashihara International Karate Organisation

AIKO is an organisation leaded by Dave Jonkers Shihan en Semmy Schilt Shihan.
After a period of working together with Cook Soke and Jon Bluming Kaicho, and with many students following the Ashihara education in the eighties and  en nineties, they decided to go back practising the traditional system.

In 1994 Dave Jonkers, Jon Bluming and David Cook founded the international BudokaiKan (IBK). From the beginning mostly the experienced names like Joop Schell, Theo Kooiman, Cor van den Adel and many others stayed active in the Ashihara International style and educated new generations of students.

In the mean time lots of knowledge has been saved and evaluated in the Ashihara International system. It continues to devellop itself for the  future, for the organisation wants to be modern and progressive. A new system is the result of the coorporation between Sem&Dave and their collegues in the Ashihara International.
Sem&Dave use their knowlegde and experience of different systems like full contact karate, DaiDoJuku, Pancrase, PRIDE and K-1 as a basis for a strong and respectfull
Budo style.

Besides the K-1 and MMA workshops Sem&Dave also organise Ashihara workshops.
